stockholm fashion week: ida sjöstedt

so we’ll be closing out our lightening-fast and abbreviated coverage of stockholm fashion week for the a/w 2013 season with a designer i’ve come to appreciate as one of the loveliest in sweden, with clothes that are maybe a little on the precious side, but enchanting just the same: ida sjöstedt (see s/s 2011, a/w 2011, s/s 2012, s/s 2013). anyway, although we don’t have a brief synopsis on the current collection, i’d say on the whole it definitely felt more ‘grown up glam’ than we’re used to seeing her; a nice evolution, non? and so, that will do it for our swedish labels this season, and i promise come the spring, we’ll have much more to say!

although i honestly am very sorry we don’t have all the kind of time to give these stockholm fashion week labels the love and care they deserve, i’m nevertheless quite pleased that the mbfws site has some brief synopses of the inspiration, so we can just draw quickly from that. and so, regarding the a/w 2013 collection of whyred (see a/w 2011, a/w 2012, s/s 2013), they offered that it was “inspired by Power, Corruption & Lies, which is the second album by New Order and which was released 1983 on Factory Recordings. The silhouette is in essence narrow and closed to the body but we have challenged ourselves in the question of what are feminine vs masculine and created masculine sensuality or feminine angularity.”
