Ukrainian Fashion Week: Zalevskiy

In the event you’re tempted to find Kiev’s Ukrainian Fashion Week boring when it compares with the unyielding chatter of some of the more renowned events, I like to regularly point out that there are quite the handful of designers that don’t tend to take themselves too seriously. For the F/W 2017 season, Zalevskiy (actually OPT has discussed the label before, waay back during the S/S 2011 season) opted to keep things light and entertaining with lots of color and prints.
In addition to mixing a miasma of hues with differing patterns like polka dots, kaleidoscope imagery, stripes, plaids, and children’s alphabet block-style lettering, the designer chose to pair odd weights of fabrics, such as heavier coat and vest materials with jersey-style dresses and even some sheers that could wear nicely through the seasons into the Spring.
